Photopoint Gallery proudly ushers in its 10th year with Far Away, a brand-new group exhibition that gathers together 19 exceptional artists exploring the many meanings of distance. From landscapes of far-flung places to abstract expressions of emotional and metaphysical space, the exhibition invites viewers and collectors alike to reflect on what it means to be far from home, from memory, or from connection itself.

Participating artists include Jamie Azevedo, Alyson Betz, Nancy Boyd, Marilyn Brady, Jim Cone, Brian Condon, Antoine de Villiers, Tamara Garvey, Erin Lovejoy, Kelly O’Leary, William Pagano, Mary Hartman, Peter E. Roberts, Angela Rowe, Dana Richardson, Oliver Smith, Dicky Stone, Sarah Hagy Volker and Joshua Yates.

The works on view include paintings, sculpture, paper cut assemblage, mixed media, jewelry, photography, and innovative upcycled forms of sculptural pieces. Together, they embody the diversity and vitality of local contemporary art practice, while remaining united under the exhibition’s central theme. Fourteen of the artists are presenting at Photopoint Gallery for the first time, offering a rare opportunity for local audiences and collectors to encounter fresh voices and perspectives.

“Over the years, Photopoint Gallery has hosted everything from the Holiday Artist Collective to eight consecutive Arts on the Coast annual exhibits,” says Owner and Director Joy Dunigan. “With Far Away, we’re embracing a bold new direction—envisioning this as a new tradition for the gallery. Each year we anticipate curating an exhibition that is both beautiful and deeply contemporary, with a fresh theme designed to attract new artists to the Richmond Hill market while also encouraging emerging and established creators from across the region. We hope this show continues to be an ongoing opportunity for artists to present their work and be seen alongside some of the best in Richmond Hill, Savannah, and beyond.”

Clockwise from the top: William Pagano’s triptych ‘MH Violet, Chartruese, Vermillion’; ‘In the Distance’ by Sarah Hagy Volker; and Mary Hartman’s ‘Charlotte Sometimes.’

The Opening Reception & Artist Meet + Greet on Thursday, September 18 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. will be a highlight event, offering the community a chance to view the exhibition, meet the artists, and consider collecting distinctive works.

Far Away is a unique exhibition at Photopoint Gallery that promises to be a journey of vision, voice, and imagination—one that reminds us all that distance, in its many forms, can be as inspiring as it is profound.
